China: Breaking through the middle-income trap

Many of the policies introduced are focused on removing the “three big mountains” faced by the lower-middle income class, namely housing, education and healthcare. In our view, the policy clampdown and “common prosperity” are not in conflict with the government support of the private sector economy.
