According to the 2021 Infrastructure Investor’s Global Investor 50 report or GI50 that ranked institutions allocating assets to infrastructure, the world’s 50 largest institutional investors have committed more than $450 billion to the asset class as of 31 December 2020. The annual publication shows an increase of $70 billion from the previous year’s allocation.

Infrastructure Debt – Taking on bond-like risk to boost returns

By taking on the role as lender of infrastructure debt, institutional investors can open their traditional equity/bond portfolios up to additional sources of duration and risk premium.
